The vertical panel that appears along the right side of your Outlook window is called the To-Do Bar. This feature is especially beneficial to business users, as it allows you to keep an eye on tasks, appointments and contacts from anywhere in Outlook. Calendar items, such as appointments and meetings, appear in the To-Do Bar by default, but if yours are absent, you can turn the option back on.
1.Start Outlook. Restore the To-Do Bar if it is not visible in the side view of Outlook. Select the 'View' tab, click 'To-Do Bar' in the Layout group and choose 'Normal.'
2.Turn on the appointment section. Click on the 'View' tab, click 'To-Do Bar' in the Layout group and select 'Appointments.' A check mark appears next to Appointments to notify you that these calendar items are now displayed in the To-Do Bar.
3.Customize the calendar items in your To-Do Bar. Click on the 'View' tab, click 'To-Do Bar' in the Layout group and select 'Options.' Select the checkboxes of the calendar items you want Outlook to display and clear the checkboxes of those you do not want to see. Click 'OK' to apply the changes.

This section contains information about Microsoft Outlook Tasks, the To-Do list, and To-Do Bar.
Beginning with Outlook 2007, the taskpad is replaced by the To-do bar, which is visible in all Outlook folders. In addition, the Calendar folder has a Daily task list, which replaces the taskpad in older versions.
In Outlook 2013 and newer, the To-do Bar is replaced with 'peeks' which can be docked (or pinned) on the right as a To-Do Bar. These are pinned per folder type, so you can show the calendar and tasks while viewing mail folders but not in the other modules.
The 'tasks for the selected day' view is not available in current version of Microsoft Outlook.
